POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES ARE USED TO SHOW POSSESSION OR OWNERSHIP

POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES AGREE (MATCH) THE PERSON/THING BEING POSSESSED NOT WITH WHO OWNS OR POSSESSES IT :

MI LIBRO = MY BOOK                  MIS LIBROS = MY BOOKS
TU AMIGO = YOUR FRIEND      TUS AMIGOS = YOUR FRIENDS

NUESTRO AND VUESTRO HAVE 4 FORMS:

NUESTRA CASA = OUR HOUSE NUESTRO AMIGO =
OUR FRIEND
NUESTRAS PLUMAS = OUR PENS NUESTROS TÍOS =
OUR UNCLES

SU AND SUS CAN BE VERY CONFUSING SINCE THEY CAN MEAN
HIS/HER/YOUR/THEIR.  IF YOU WISH TO MAKE IT PERFECTLY
CLEAR WHO OWNS AND OBJECT … USE DE INSTEAD OF A POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVE:
MARY’S BOOK … ES EL LIBRO DE MARÍA
IT IS THEIR (THE GIRL´S) FRIEND … ES LA AMIGA DE ELLAS
IT IS YOUR TEACHER … ES LA PROFESORA DE USTED
